This step-by-step guide will walk you through everything involved in a roof replacement, so you can feel confident and informed from the first call to the final cleanup. Here's a clear breakdown of the process, divided into two key stages:

Before the Roof Assessment

Everything that happens before we begin work

Initial Contact

The first step is reaching out to us, either by phone, email, or through our website. We’ll collect some basic information and schedule a site assessment at a time that works for you.

Site Assessment and Material Discussion

During the site assessment, we inspect your roof from the outside and check the boards from the inside through the attic. We’ll also discuss available roofing materials such as Asphalt (we usually install the GAF Roofing System, as GAF Certified Installers), Metal, Cedar, and others. Material selection will be outlined in the quote.

Accepting Your Quote

After the assessment and material discussion, we’ll send you a detailed quote outlining the scope of work and materials. Once the quote is signed and the deposit is received, we will schedule the project, factoring in weather and material availability.

After the quote is accepted and project is scheduled

Everything that happens before we begin work

Site Preparation

On the day we begin, our crew will arrive to prep the site. We’ll move what we can and cover anything that can’t be moved. Tarps are laid around the work area to catch debris, and protective barriers are set up around windows and other exterior structures.

Removal of existing and Deck Repairs

We begin by removing the existing roofing materials down to the roof deck. Although we’ve already inspected the boards from the attic, we’ll conduct a final check after the removal. Any rot or damage, will be communicated with the clients and repaired to ensure a solid surface

Install Leak Barrier and Underlayment

Before installing the new roof, we add a layer of protection over the roof deck. As GAF Certified Installers, we typically use GAF products. The exact materials and steps may vary depending on what was selected in the quote and the type of roofing being installed.

Install New Roof

The new roofing system is installed according to manufacturer specifications and all warranty requirements, depending on the material selected in your quote. For asphalt roofs, we typically begin with GAF Pro-Start® Starter Strip Shingles and install GAF Shingles. If you’ve selected a different option such as metal, cedar shakes, or Diamond Steel Shingles, the process may involve different materials and steps tailored to those systems.

Clean-Up and Final Inspection

After the roof is installed, we clean up the job site, sweep the area for nails and debris, and perform a final inspection to make sure everything meets our standards.

Warranty and Wrap-Up

After the roof installation and final inspection are completed, we will send the final invoice along with all necessary warranty documentation and care information for your new roof. We offer workmanship warranty on all installations, and if asphalt shingles were selected, there's the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty for added peace of mind.

A roof replacement doesn’t need to be overwhelming. By understanding what happens before and after your project is scheduled, you can feel confident every step of the way.
